CLUB RULES Please note that ALL members and spectators are expected to read and respect our club rules
1.
Requirement: All members must hold a current British Judo Association Competition Licence.
2.
Hygiene: You and your Judogi must be clean at all times.
3.
Hygiene: Finger and toe-nails must be kept short.
4.
Hygiene: No jewellery, earrings or piercings may be worn on the mat area. Elastic hair bands are allowed to tie back
long hair.
5.
Footwear: You must wear footwear at all times in the Dojo when off of the Tatami (this includes the changing rooms).
6.
Footwear: Spectators and players must NOT go onto the mat area while wearing any kind of footwear.
7.
Spectators/Parents/Guardians: You are obliged to obey the rules of the club and the Judo Etiquette. You must
keep any children who are spectators under strict control and not let them run around the club or make excessive
noise or disrupt the session. Any spectator/parent/guardian failing to comply with the club rules will be asked to
leave the premises.
8.
Food & Drink: No food to be brought into the Dojo area. Food must be consumed in the Canteen area or taken outside the club.
Drinks are allowed at the side of the mats, but no drinking is allowed on the mat area.
9.
Punctuality: All members entering the premises with the intent of practising will have paid their fees and be ready to start the lesson on time. If
you are late, please wait at the mat edge until being invited to join the class by an instructor. (The instructors are seldom late for class).
10.
Respect: It is important that you respect ALL other players and always help novices. Treat ALL players the way that you wish to be treated
yourself. Disrespect to other players, inappropriate behaviour or rude or foul language will NOT be tolerated and will result in the guilty party
being sent off the mat. In repeated incidents, the guilty party is at risk of loosing their membership.
11.
Etiquette: It is important that you should NOT TALK when the Sensei is talking or demonstrating, especially when ‘matte’ or ‘Sore-made’ is
called. At the command 'line-up' at the start of class and ‘Sore-Made’ at the end of class, you should line up in grade order as quickly and quietly
as possible.
12.
Membership: You will be informed when your annual membership and BJA License fees need renewing. Non-members will be charged visitors
session fee. If your membership has been allowed to expire, you will also be charged visitors session fees.
13.
Rights of admission: All the Club Sensei and staff have the right to refuse entry to the club to any person not complying with the club rules.
After investigation, it could mean a suspension or loss of membership.
14.
New members: New players are on a maximum trial period of 4 sessions, after which they must take out membership of the club and of The
British Judo Association. They can join at any time during the trial period. Once the trial period has ended, a valid BJA license must be produced
for a player to have access to the mat area.
15.
Attendance: Any member who is late on a regular basis or whose pattern of attendance is irregular is liable to have their membership cancelled.
Membership fees are non refundable.
16.
Discretion: Any points NOT covered by the club rules will be decided by the Club's Chairman/Head Sensei.
