MEMBERSHIP
BECOMING A MEMBER.
We welcome you to visit our facility during sessions to see how much fun Judo can be. In recent months we have seen
a number of new members arriving from other clubs, this is great news to us and we welcome all Judoka in all
stages of their Judo training. Joining V&E Judokwai could not be easier. As a novice to Judo, you are welcome to
start our ‘try out’ period. This ‘try out’ Period consists of four sessions where you will learn the importance of Dojo
etiquette, basic technique and how to practice Judo safely. All you will need are jogging bottoms; we will provide
the Gi (Judo Jacket). Recently, the BJA have outlined fixed practices for the ‘try out’ period. Once you have had
the four sessions, you will not be able to continue to practice judo without a valid BJA License. Your license can
be obtained directly from the BJA (please ask at our club office for the relevant forms or download them directly
from the BJA website).
We recommend that if you wish to continue learning Judo, you apply for your license early. This will ensure there are no gaps
in your training whilst you wait for your license to arrive. In addition, you will need club membership; forms are also available from
our club office. All valid members will receive a membership card which confirms their affiliation to the club. Members are then asked to
produce this card prior to starting a session in our Dojo.
You can become a member of our club and start learning Judo from the age of five years upward (see the session times and check list below
for new Judoka).
BJA LICENSED JUDOKA. On arrival, BJA Registered Judoka only need to apply for Club membership and present a current BJA license. It is
your choice if you want to have the BJA update your license to show affiliation to V&E Judokwai, but as a club member you have that right.
